Custom Splicing

If you're in need of a custom splice, either as a complete mooring setup or just an eye in a length of rope, Bayside Marine can provide you with a professional, custom-made setup using top quality Kingfisher ropes.

Swinging Mooring Line
A simple mooring line comprises of the following:
  • Soft eye. This hooks over the cleat.
  • Rope length. Custom length depending on your circumstance. A length of hose is usually slipped over where the rope rubs against the side of the boat to prevent chafing.
  • Hard eye and shackle. Used to attach to the mooring buoy.
We just need the following requirements and measurements from you:
  • Size of the cleat the soft eye will be hooked over.
  • The distance between the cleat and the side of the boat.
  • The distance between the side of the boat to the water.
  • What size and colour 3-strand rope you'd like.
  • What length of hose to go over the rope to prevent wear and chafing.
Anchor Line
A simple line to safely hold your anchor which comprises of the following:
  • Soft eye. This hooks over the cleat.
  • A length of rope spliced into the soft eye that holds the pick-up buoy. This holds your anchor line afloat and makes it very easy to retrieve later.
  • Rope length. Custom length depending on your circumstance. A length of hose is usually slipped over where the rope rubs against the side of the boat to prevent chafing. The length of the rope is dependant on the depth of water you'll typically be anchoring in. If you're using predominantly rope then the length is 7 times the depth. If you're using predominantly chain then the length is 4 times the depth.
  • A hard eye and shackle which is used to connect the rope to the chain. The chain is usually just a short length to help weigh down the line and helps the anchor dig into the bottom.
  • An anchor swivel to prevent twisting.
  • A final shackle that attaches the swivel to the anchor.
We just need the following requirements and measurements from you:
  • Size of the cleat the soft eye will be hooked over.
  • The depth of the water you'll typically be dropping anchor in.
  • If you're looking to use predominantly rope or chain for your anchor line.
  • What size nylon rope and chain you'd like.
  • What length of hose to go over the rope to prevent chafing.
  • If you also require a pick-up buoy, and if so what colour and size.
Wire Talurit
A length of wire rope (either galv or stainless steel) where we can talurit an eye onto either one or either end, soft eye or hard eye. A hard eye is much more rigid and uses a thimble, but the size of the eye is fixed.

We'd just need the following requirements and measurements from you:
  • Total length of the wire, measuring from the end of the eye.
  • If you're requiring galv or stainless steel wire, 3mm or 5mm.
  • If you'd like a soft eye, then what approximate size do you require the eye to be.
  • If you need an eye in just one end, or both ends.
Custom Rope Splice
If you're just after a length of rope with either a soft or hard eye in one end, or both, then we can supply that in either 3-strand or braid on braid ropes.

We'd just need the following requirements and measurements from you:
  • Which rope you're looking at (braid on braid, 3 strand nylon or 3 strand polyester), including size and colour.
  • What overall length you'd like the rope to be, measuring from the end of the eye.
  • If you're after a soft or hard eye in one or both ends of the rope.
  • If you're after a soft eye, what size you need the eye to be.
